Week 2 Week 1 Welcome to Week Three of the One Room Challenge! I think from now on I will only be showing glimpses of the new room — I really want it to be a surprise. And heck, at this point, I’ll be just as surprised, as I’m still waiting on delivery of several pieces.
This week was the bulk of the wallpaper installation on my shelves. This took waaaay longer than I expected because each of the 29 non-removeable shelves needed 3 cut pieces to cover the entire back.
That’s right. I cut and installed EIGHTY SEVEN PIECES OF WALLPAPER. And then I trimmed 29 shelf backs. I’m just going to bask in the knowledge that I finished them and didn’t cut myself. And that I won’t have to do this again. Ever. LOL
In other good news, I have sourced some curtain panels that will be perfect and won’t cost me an arm and a leg. I was worried I’d have to make some and I would fall in love with some Schumacher fabric and blow my meager budget simply by wishing on it. Crisis averted.
Still hunting for chairs. (To be honest, I’m hunting for chairs that I can reupholster. Wish me luck!) However, I did scoop up a couple ginger jars at HomeGoods, so I can check those off. I am loving the cheer that blue is bringing this Brown Library.
And I thought I would share a terrible photo of this awesome charcoal drawing I found this summer at a flea market at the beach. I love it because she could be any one of my three beach-sitting, book-loving girls. It makes me so happy.
Someone glued it to the wood frame backer, so I have to figure out how to frame her properly. I love the idea of this charcoal in my office, where I sit every day and can be reminded of my girls in their happy
In completely unrelated ORC news, we moved our family’s October house guest, Karen, to the front yard. She is currently enjoying a swing and a glass of wine. We don’t judge. She only gets to come out of the basement once a year and she enjoy the fun.
A big thank you to the One Room Challenge organizers and Media Partner, Better Homes and Gardens!
Make sure to see what the featured designers are up to and check in with the other ORC guest participants.
Thanks all of your notes and comments this past week. It makes a girl happy to know she’s got friendly support out there!
